Gimme that garbage! There are so many unwanted items out there that still have tons of potential. I save them from the garbage and transform them into new and functional items. Right now, I cut fabric salvaged from old clothes and linens and crochet it into purses and rugs, cut old plates and cups into tiles to mosaic found objects, use bottlecaps and books to make resin-filled magnets and pins, and thrift store yarn to crochet pouches and pet toys. However, I'm always looking for inspiration to use new types of garbage to make new things

Lidia Wachowska, the creator and designer behind Evil Kitty, immigrated from Poland at the age of 19. She moved to Chicago and enrolled at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. During her years there, she and her boyfriend, Sean, created an animated kitty character, who took on a life of her own. We are a small socially and environmentally conscious roastery located in Berea Ohio, a small suburb just a few minutes south of Cleveland. We aim to be a source for interested people to try out the quality, nuances and diversity of organic, Fair Trade, decaffeinated and other specialty coffees. At the moment our national organic certification is in process. However, we still operate as an organic handler and roast only certified organically grown coffees from around the world.In a nutshell, we love the experience of coffee, how it can be a common thread between many seemingly different cultures, how amazingly unique coffees from around the world can taste, its vast history and of course the meticulous crafts of growing, roasting and brewing. I like to think that if the proper channels are taken and all who participate in the coffee chain, including the environment, are treated fairly then it is an honest and dynamic living. As a roaster and a business, we are always learning and experiencing new things.
